Staying hydrated in the summer months does not have to be challenging. Sure, those sugary, flavored sodas and fruit drinks taste good, but good old water will keep you hydrated and safe this summer.
From the Mayo Clinic, “So how much fluid does the average, healthy adult living in a temperate climate need? The Institute of Medicine determined that an adequate intake (AI) for men is roughly about 13 cups (3 liters) of total beverages a day. The AI for women is about 9 cups (2.2 liters) of total beverages a day.”
Here are some fun, easy ways to get more water throughout the day:
- Put some lemon in your water. It will spice up the water and actually make it taste even more refreshing.
- Considering getting a bottle with a straw or other water carrying system that you can keep with you throughout the day. Having easy access to clean, drinkable water is a great way to stay hydrated.
- Set a timer to remind you to drink the daily recommended amount of water throughout the day.
- Start each day with a glass of water and drink a glass of water before each meal.
Drinking the appropriate amount of water throughout the day has many health benefits beyond keeping your body hydrated. Drinking water over sugary drinks can help with your weight management goals. Being properly hydrated can keep you skin looking healthier.
So let’s all raise a glass of clean water and drink to our health!
